BROADCAST & ECHOBOY at The Troubadour

On their haunting The Noise Made by People, Broadcast crafted smoky café lounge tunes that couple avant-garde, spacey electronics with swinging '60s europop to create the perfect five a.m. comedown score. Fellow Briton Echoboy's Volume 1 — a combination of blistering psychedelia and dirty-pants disco with wisps of jazz and George Harrison — was another candidate for the most remarkably original record of 2000. It's no wonder that the Gallaghers asked Echoboy (aka Richard Warren) to join Oasis. Three years later, both bands finally take their breakfast in America, each with new CD releases, albeit in a music scene that's already leapfrogged their stylish millennial-year innovations. Still, the fervent talent and vast aural tundra of these two bands promise a night of cathartic transportation.
